The largest English bookstore-Dymocks in HK closed its flagship store in IFC on Jan 1st, 2015. Many bookstores in HK are closed in recent years. Eslite also cancelled 24 hours-opening in HK. Apart from the increasing rent, the fading atmosphere of reading is also regarded as the culprit of difficulty for bookstores. HKers don’t like going to the bookstore and just regard it as a store of the shopping mall to hang out, but not buy books.¬†We can no longer see people who are reading books in MTR.
